We offer structured courses in Mafāhīm (Concepts), Tafsīr (Explanation), and Tadabbur (Reflection), alongside focused modules designed to help you build a meaningful relationship with the Holy Qur'an. Each course acts like a torch held from a different angle — gradually illuminating the Qur'anic worldview with greater clarity and depth.

Anwār al-Qur'an
An 18-month programme that builds foundational Qur'anic understanding through core vocabulary and conceptual structures.
Our flagship Anwār al-Qur'an programme is built upon the books compiled by The Rising Sun Institute and brought to life through the Basā'ir methodology, which combines structured learning, conceptual connections and guided reflection to develop a truly Qur'anic way of seeing the world. Through a systematic and engaging approach, students interact directly with the Qur'anic text, gradually uncovering its core vocabulary, grammatical patterns and conceptual structure.
The Qur'an contains approximately 78,000 words, built from around 1,800 unique word forms. This programme focuses on approximately 1,200 of the most frequently occurring words. By mastering these, students gain access to a significant portion of Qur'anic meaning through repetition, recognition, and conceptual familiarity.
Each of these words is treated as a point of light (nūr). As these points accumulate, they begin to form patterns — revealing the underlying structure of meaning within the Qur'an. As connections between words and root concepts become clearer, students begin to see the Qur'anic worldview not as isolated meanings, but as a connected system — like a constellation gradually becoming visible in the night sky.
At Basā'ir, we often say: "The meaning is not the translation." A translation provides an approximation of meaning, but it cannot fully convey the concepts, nuances and relationships carried by the original Arabic. Rather than asking, "What is the English translation of this word?" we ask, "What concept is Allah conveying through this word?"
Tafsīr · Explanation
Bayyināt al-Qur'an
A structured study of Qur'anic exegesis drawing on classical scholarship to clarify meaning and deepen interpretation.
Our Tafsīr modules explore sūrahs such as Sūrat al-Fātiḥah and selected short sūrahs from Juz' 'Amma, as well as narrative passages and stories within longer sūrahs. They also include thematic studies such as Tawḥīd, exploring key Qur'anic concepts across multiple sūrahs to develop a deeper, more integrated understanding of the Qur'an.
The programme draws on both classical and contemporary scholarly analysis, providing structured engagement with Qur'anic interpretation. We draw upon the works of major scholars, including Allāmah Ṭabāṭabā'ī (al-Mīzān) and Āyatullāh Jawādī Āmulī (Tasnīm), grounding students in both traditional exegesis and deeper conceptual reflection.
Note that completion of the Anwār al-Qur'an (Mafāhīm) programme is a prerequisite for certain Tafsīr modules, as it provides the conceptual foundation required for deeper engagement with the text. The advanced Tafsīr pathway includes a progressive study of Sūrat al-Baqarah as well as thematic Tafsīr across the Qur'an supported by narrations and scholarly analysis.
Tadabbur · Reflection
ʿIbar al-Qur'an
Reflective engagement with Qur'anic passages that develops lived understanding, practical lessons and personal connection with the text.
Whilst Tadabbur is an integral part of the Anwār al-Qur'an (Mafāhīm) programme, we also offer independent Tadabbur modules focused on practical reflection upon the Qur'an.
These sessions explore core Qur'anic themes such as Dunyā and Ākhirah, divine testing, guidance and Taqwā.
The modules aim to move beyond understanding meaning alone, towards living with meaning — developing a reflective, personal relationship with the Qur'an in everyday life.

Uns (Intimacy)
Together, Mafāhīm, Tafsīr and Tadabbur lead to Uns (Intimacy) — a living connection and relationship with the Qur'an at multiple levels.
هَٰذَا بَصَٰٓئِرُ لِلنَّاسِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ
